Synopsis
In the first of the six articles in the Feature Article Section, Martin White and Marilyn Lewis reflect on the changes they make to the lessons they have prepared and examine the reasons for making these adjustments. In the second article, Richard Watson Todd examines novice teachers beliefs and suggests that helping these teachers become aware of their beliefs and philosophies is a worthwhile pursuit. In the third article, Eunice Tang turns traditional PPP lesson into a task-based lesson. The fourth article by George Jacobs and Daniel Hannah focuses on how reading aloud can be combined with cooperative learning. They suggest practical read aloud techniques for regular classroom use. In the next article, Nugrahenny Zacharias suggests that literature can be powerful tool for teaching language. She shows how a short literary piece can be fruitfully exploited to encourage more writing from the students. The last article by Hayo Reinders discusses why learner strategies need to be taught and how these can be successfully incorporated in your language programme.
